Deep Draw Hydroforming

In addition to offering hydroforming parts with draw depths less than 3" Jones Metal Products can also deep draw hydroform parts from blanks up to 32.5" with depths up to 14" and diameters to 27". We operate at forming pressures up to 10,000 psi, tackling material gauges up to 3/8 inches (steel) and 1 inch (aluminum). Deep draw hydroforming offers many of the same advantages hydroforming does over deep draw stamping and other cold forming processes, including outstanding surface finishes, reduced tooling costs, and the ability to manufacture parts with irregular shaped geometries while holding exceptionally close tolerances.

Deep Draw Stamping Capabilities and Value Added Secondary Operations

In addition to a complete line of presses suitable for deep draw hydroforming, Jones Metal has a complete compliment of deep draw stamping presses and auxilliary equipment available to perform value added secondary operations.

Stamping Presses: 4 Bliss Double Action Toggle Presses, Assorted Mechanical and Hydraulic Presses to 350 Tons.

Fabricating Equipment: Mitsubishi VZ1 5 axis 2000 watt laser with 5' x 7' bed; Accurpress 10' hydraulic press brake; 3 axis laser system for blank preparation.

Machining and Tool Design Equipment: Haas VF6 5 axis vertical machining center with travels of x = 64", y - 32", z = 30"; 2 and 3 axis CNC milling machines; wire EDM to 12"; CNC Lathe-Haas, SL Series SL40 (y axis 17", z axis 44"); precision CAM machining from inhouse CAD designs of customer drawings; full DCC automatic CMM inspection of part contours and tolerances; CAM machining from customer CAD data including IGES, DXF, Ford-PDGS, CADAM, CATIA; and CNC digitizing capability for reproducing models to exact hard tooling replicas.

Aluminum Heat Treating Equipment: Recco drop bottom furnace (44" x 44" x 92") to 1000 degrees F and 900 pound load; associated rinse and quench tanks; Cincinnati SubZero freezer (38"x48"x60" at temperatures -10 degrees F or below; Wisconsin batch oven (5'x 6' x 17') capable of temperatures up to 800 degrees F to process aluminum sheets, plates, and parts; and Grieve 500 degree F aging oven 59" x 72" x 99".

Vacuum Heat Treating Equipment: Abar-Ipsen Model HR50 (36" W x 48" D x "30" H) to 2400 degrees F. treating nickel alloys, stainless steel, and exotic metals. Nitrogen quench capability.
