Hydroforming
Hydroforming and Deep Drawing Capabilities
Hydroforming Since 1923.
Jones Metal has the equipment, capacity and experience to meet all your hydroforming and deep drawing needs. We can accommodate blanks up to 32.5 inches to form parts with depths up to 14 inches and diameters to 27 inches. We operate at forming pressures up to 10,000 psi, tackling material gauges up to 3/8 inches (steel) and 1 inch (aluminum). We work with a variety of metals including stainless steel, brass, copper, lead, titanium, a variety of clad metals and state-of-the art alloys including hastelloys, inconels, cobalt and nickel alloys. Whether your application calls for hydrofroming, deep draw hydroforming, or Cincinnati Hydroforming, Jones Metal Products has the experience and equipment needed to take your idea from the drawing board to production today!
Hydroforming
Two Processes, One Pledge
Hydroforming has many advantages over other processes, especially when runs are small and shapes are complex.
Hydroforming Gives A Better Finish
The exterior surface quality of a hydroformed part, in many cases eliminates the need for further finishing and polishing. Material "thin-out" is minimal throughout the cross section of parts. Typical materials fabricated include steel, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium, and high temperature alloys.
Hydroforming Reduces Costs
Savings can be realized due to the elimination of matching male and female dies normally required in other processes. Hardened tool steels are often used. Hard epoxy or cast plastics may be used for very short runs or prototype runs. Savings can also be had in the reduction of finishing costs associated with correcting scuff marks, shock and stretch lines of conventional matched die methods.
Hydroforming Is Cost-Effective For Product Development
Simplified modifications in tooling, plus the ability to draw different thickness of material on the same tooling, makes hydroforming ideal for research and development work.
Hydroforming Helps Achieve Exceptional Tolerances
The ability of the hydroforming process to maintain precise tolerances is exceptional. Unless the material exhibits abnormal springback, inside measurements can be kept to plus or minus .005 inches. Irregular contoured shapes are easily formed - often in one hydroform operation compared to two or three operations on conventional presses.

EXAMPLES of Jones Metal Deep Draw Hydroforming

Aerospace Gyroscope Case
Process: Deep Draw Hydroforming Produced from 0.100” 6061-0 aluminum alloy. Low volume product Machined complete – flange flat within 0.010 in.

Light Reflectors
Produced from 0.032” 3002 aluminum alloy by hydroforming. Process involves buff and bright dip anodize reflectors to provide up to 85% reflectivity. Two different parts produced from common tool set by varying blank size & trim operation.

Jet Engine Components
Process: Deep Drawn Hydroforming Produced from 0.090” Inconel 625 Extensive post form trimming and secondary operations.
